Show #1101 Original Air Date: September 27th, 2007 It is estimated that 40,000 babies with Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) are born in the United States each year. CHD is also the most frequently occurring birth defect, and is the leading cause of birth defect related deaths. An estimated 250 infants are born with CHD each year in Nebraska. Midwest Heart Connection is a support group designed to provide information, resources, and support to individuals with congenital heart defects (CHD) and their families. It primarily serves Nebraska and the surrounding areas. It is focusing its efforts on raising money for pediatric cardiology research so that more children with heart defects will survive, live longer, and lead an improved quality of life.
